Karma is for healing not hurting

It would seem from a lot of the literature out there that the point of karma is to punish someone who has already done spiritual detriment to themselves already. For instance, I spoke with a young lady last week that believed that the reason someone raped her was because she was a rapist in another life. I asked her what grounds did she have to believe this? She had no past life memories of doing so, no reasoning other than the idea that karma pays people back for bad things that they've done in other lifetimes by giving them a kick in the behind in this one.

That is not the purpose of karma.

Let me state for the record that I do believe in universal justice and that we do indeed receive in abundance whatever we abundantly send out to the universe. This does not equal karma nor does it equal vengeance or retribution.

There are many things that go into forming a lifetime. It begins in the beginning (and there are very few of us who are new souls) when we blue print our entire lifetime from beginning to the possibility of ascension. We also have other factors to figure in, like the multiplicity of the verses we live in, and free will. I do not believe in predestination nor do I believe in destiny. I also do not believe in any form of eternal damnation. I believe that we choose our paths, they are not chosen for us. We choose all of the aspects that will help us to ascend to our true selves and experience life. Even though we diagram our life choices, and there are many of them, each verse that we choose to reside in will not be a mirror image of each other, but will likely have our many choices reflected within them. In each one of those lifetimes we have our choices reflected within them and have the free will to choose any of the options we have chosen for each lifetime and verse.

Not all of the choices that we will make throughout our lifetimes will be positive ones and we will endure spiritual scarring. However it is important to remember that prior to coming into physical form, we are perfect and without the experiences of the lives we will live here or the decisions that we will make or even have to. Nor do we know pain, misery, sorrow, fear, illness, hunger, or poverty. Throughout our lifestages we will experience all of these things and they will leave scarring. These scars leave residual spiritual pits that have to be filled in and healed over. Until we learn to heal ourselves we will repeat those experiences in some form and some degree. It is likely that the rape victim mentioned at the beginning of this post was likely raped in other lifetimes and likely by the same person. The rapist has not yet learned to overcome his fear of women and engage his own personal power instead of taking it from someone else. The victim has not learned to release and let go of the pain and horror of her attack. These residual scars haunt us through many lifetimes and often appear as phobias, unreasonable fears, or repetitious life patterns. Our blueprints are altered at every incarnation to reflect these life experiences.

Karma is not to teach us how to hurt but how to heal so that we can move forward without repeating the same patterns that have harmed us before. No amount of blueprinting will guarantee that we will have spotless and perfect lives free of worry or pain, nor does it gurantee that the decisions that others make will not negatively affect our lives. It is possible that the rapist was Roman in his first series of incarnations, a culture in which violence and apathy for the lives of women and children were completely acceptable. Until he learns to heal his negative ideas about those people he will never move forward and unfortunately there will be more victims. However, we have the free will to choose how we will react to the challenges we face in life. Karma teaches us about the choices we have in our lives and it teaches us how to heal those scars that are left so that we can move forward and ascend to our true selves and by doing so, can also aid others in their ascensions.
